Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word. Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law. I am a sojourner on the earth; hide not your commandments from me! My soul is consumed with longing for your rules at all times. You rebuke the insolent, accursed ones, who wander from your commandments. Take away from me scorn and contempt, for I have kept your testimonies. Psalm 119:17-24 (ESV)When was the last time you longed for God's Word? I often hear the anticipation of going on a vacation, to a nice restaurant, or the excitement of the latest movie release. However, I seldom hear someone talk excitedly about spending time in God's Word.
Perhaps we have become so warped that a fine vacation, food, or movie is more satisfying to us than God and His Word. Of course, we would not say this aloud, but by our actions, we have said that aloud.
