His tears are not for himself…

Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is your way with those who love your name. Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me. Redeem me from man's oppression, that I may keep your precepts. Make your face shine upon your servant, and teach me your statutes. My eyes shed streams of tears, because people do not keep your law. Psalm 119:132-136 (ESV)

This passage allows us to enter the heart and mind of the Psalmist. We see that those who love God dialogue with Him. The Psalmist would like God to treat him like He would treat anyone who loves Him. He desires to know that God is directing His paths and has no problem talking to God about protecting him from the sins that can so easily destroy him.

The Psalmist is concerned that those to whom he ministers will oppress him, and throughout this oppression, he wants to make sure he keeps God's precepts. His main desire is that all that happens to him allows him to understand God's ways, and his tears are not for himself but for those who don't get it.
