God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah
Psalm 46:1-3 (ESV)Money is not your refuge and strength. Physical strength, family, position, or power are not your comfort and strength. Money, physical strength, family, position, and power can keep you from the refuge you need, and rob you of your real strength.
Man's real strength lies in God, not in man. It is so easy to get this wrong, and when we do, we never find that for which we are looking.
The indication in these verses is that there will be times of trouble. For some reason, we want to think that troubled times will not come to us, and we often hope our relationship with God will hold them off, making it impossible to enjoy Him during them. (We are blaming Him for them.)
God is worthy of our trust at all times.
