And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

Contextually, we understand that those who will not work do not eat. However, the purpose of life is not eating and drinking. The purpose of life is the enjoyment or glorification of God. My efforts should be focused on knowing Christ and making Him known.
It is easy to focus on the provision rather than the provider and lose the purpose of the provision. A cup of water given in God’s name is wonderful because it points to the provider of the water.
Those who forget the source of their provision, and focus instead on the provision, will experience the futility of life in full measure.
I need to readjust daily to make sure I am seeking Him and not seeking what He provides.
