“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Luke 12:32-34 (ESV) What is a treasure that does not grow old? What is a treasure that would be with us in the heavens and will never fail? What is the treasure that thieves cannot steal, and time will not corrode? This unique treasure is not money; it is people. Those who treasure relationships see their resources as something to enhance relationships. They understand that the only “thing” they will take with them into eternity will be other people, and all the resources they have amassed will remain here on earth, in the care of someone who did not earn them and may not use them well. For what are we using our earthly treasures? |
