“I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do. But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Luke 12:4-7 (ESV)
Small birds can easily be ignored. In fact, many times the birds of the air are “just there.” They are unseen, unknown ,and they are irrelevant to most, yet God knows their every move.
Thinking of this gives us a glimpse of the greatness of God and the fact that He is far beyond our comprehension in every area. The point of this passage is not to point out the tremendous ability of God, but the tremendous love of God.
We are the objects of His love. This is an “un” kind of love. It is unfathomable, incomprehensible, unusual, unimaginable, and undeserved.
Today, I need to spend time thinking of and thanking God for such a tremendous love
